Develon unveils 14 tonne excavator for Europe

At the recent Plantworx exhibition in the UK, Develon, formerly Doosan Construction Equipment introduced the DX140LC-7K, a new 14.6 tonne crawler excavator model that replaces the DX140LC-7.

The performance and working range of the new machine match its predecessor, but the DX140LC-7K incorporates new features aimed at enhancing safety and the operator experience.

New features on the DX140LC-7K include improved maintenance access, safer access to the upper structure, better rear and right-side visibility and a new dashboard with a tablet design that offers faster response times.

From a serviceability perspective, Develon has improved access to the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) tank and fuel refilling hose.

Improved visibility

The operator’s approach to the engine compartment has been made easier with the addition of anti-slip steps and handrails positioned behind the cab. These anti-slip steps are protected and secured by a new side door on the excavator.

Additionally, the DX140LC-7K features a new flattened engine cover design to improve visibility for the operator to the rear and right-hand side of the machine.

Develon has also removed holding valves from the main valve, resulting in improved fluidity.

Holding valves, unnecessary in the European Union, have been removed from the main valve, reducing pressure losses and minimising heat generation within the system.

Operator benefits

Inside the cab, a new dashboard monitor with a tablet design has been installed and operator benefits include an upgraded seat and a range of additional control and performance features.

In addition, the previous hydraulic two-way pedal has been replaced by an electronic two-way pedal, and a hydraulic system has been implemented.

A tiltrotator mode can also be selected, optimising hydraulic flow and enhancing accuracy by eliminating back pressure.

Tech advances

Further features in and around the cab include a DAB audio system with hands-free calling and Bluetooth capabilities, keyless start with Develon Smart Key and remote door lock/unlock, a fully adjustable air suspension seat with heating (with optional cooling function), a parallel wiper system, improved air flow for defrosting and air conditioning, nine standard LED work lights with the option for two more LED lamps, and an Around View Monitor (AVM) with 360° cameras.

The DX140LC-7K is equipped with a smart hydraulic system that Develon says can improve attachment work efficiency by approximately 30%, compared with previous models.

Powered by the D34 4-cylinder Stage V diesel engine, delivering 86 kW of power at 2000 RPM, the DX140LC-7K promises increased fuel savings through the hydraulic main valve and the SPC3 Smart Power Controls.

Develon’s latest telematics system is factory-installed in the DX140LC-7K – a web-based fleet management tool for monitoring both the performance and security of machines.
