Deutz to supply engines to Takeuchi

20 June 2016

Manufacturer Takeuchi is to equip its compact excavators with Deutz’s TCD 3.6 diesel engine from mid-2016.

The companies said Takeuchi would be equipping its new TB295W wheeled excavator and its new TB2150 tracked excavator with DEUTZ's TCD 3.6 diesel engine. The engines meet the Stage 4 emissions standard that currently applies in Japan as well as EU Stage IV and US EPA Tier 4 Final.

The standard exhaust aftertreatment system features a diesel oxidising catalytic converter (DOC) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR). For more strictly regulated markets such as Switzerland and for municipal applications in Germany, a diesel particulate filter (DPF) is used. With DPF the machines also meet EU Stage V, which will come into force in 2019.

Deutz's water-cooled, four-cylinder in-line engine produces 55.4kW to 100kW at 2200 revolutions per minute.

Deutz said the exhaust aftertreatment system would be provided to Takeuchi as a fully assembled drop-in solution, making installation easier, according to the company.

Takeuchi research and development general manager Hiroshi Yokoyama said, "We are delighted to be collaborating with Deutz on our Stage IV excavators. Modular exhaust aftertreatment is hugely beneficial for us and we are reaping the rewards from Deutz's experience in exhaust technology."
