Denmark’s HG launches ultra-efficient 3t electric dumper

Speaking to Rental Briefing at the International Rental Exhibition (IRE) in Maastricht (2-4 June), HG’s director of international sales Jesper Ørskov Pedersen explained that the machine is the latest in the company’s range of all-electric dumpers. It follows the launch of a one-tonne model in 2019 and a two-tonne machine in 2022.

While there there was a two-tonne E2000 model on the company’s stand at IRE, there was no three-tonne E3000 because all the machines the company has manufactured so far have already been sold.

Running off a 29kWh lithium-ion battery that can be fully charged within four hours, the E3000 has four independent in-wheel electric motors that HG claims use less power than a conventional electric system and allows 12 hours of effective run-time between charges.

It also has a 180° swivel tip as standard for precise placement of loads and an optional high tip for loading into containers and trucks.

While around 50% of the one-tonne electric dumpers HG manufactures are sold into the rental market, Pedersen said the E2000 and E3000 both command a higher proportion of rental sales, at around 60-70%.

Legislation mandating the use of electric machines in markets like Scandinavia and the Netherlands is driving rental sales, as contractors struggle to replace their diesel machines all at once.

But he also reported strong demand in Spain and Portugal, where sales of electric machines has traditionally been less strong, thanks to a strong renovation market where customers require quiet, emissions-free operation in indoor environments.
