Crestchic hits revenue record

UK-based loadbank rental specialist Crestchic, a subsidiary of Aggreko, has revealed a 30% increase in revenue for 2023.

The company said the growth follows a strategic focus on key sectors and geographies in 2022, when it also announced revenue growth of 45%.

That strategy has seen Crestchic integrate and rebrand a number of its businesses into the Group, including Crestchic Transformers (formely Northbridge Transformers) and Crestchic Plc (formely Northbridge Industrial Services Plc).

At the same time, the company appointed a new business development manager to grow the Crestchic rental business in France, and opened a new factory in the UK, expanding its capacity by 60% in the process.

Looking forward, the company said the change of ownership to Aggreko last year in a £122 million deal ensures “increased investment for ongoing innovation and market leadership” while allowing it to retain its own identity and reputation.

Chris Caldwell, managing director, Crestchic, said, “While many of Britain’s manufacturers have suffered a drop in export demand amid pressure from Covid and Brexit, demand for Crestchic’s loadbanks has remained high across the powergen, data centre and marine sectors.

“To meet demand, we have significantly expanded our manufacturing facilities, fleet, and product portfolio, and made strategic investments in our people and processes. The investment and focus has paid off, and the business is celebrating its 40th year amid significant and sustained growth.”

Meanwhile, 2024 marks 40 years in business for the company. It was founded by Jim, David and Jonathan Gould alongside co-founder Ron Bancroft in 1983 and was initially a provider of air-cooled loadbanks to test standby generators from a factory in Burton on Trent.

Over the subsequent years, the company extended its offerings to include loadbank rental, sales, and service. It also opened new product lines and expanded its presence globally, establishing sales and rental hubs in the UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the USA.
