Colleagues and customers have been paying tribute to Mark Nolan, product development director of rental software company MCS, who passed away on 3 November 2011.

Mark spent 21 years with MCS and was well known in the rental sector in the UK and among MCS's many international customers.

"Everyone at MCS is shocked and saddened at Mark's sudden death", said MCS founder Richard van der Knaap, "He had a unique talent for combining great people skills, with extensive technical knowledge and was well respected in the rental market."

Mark joined MCS in 1991 and became director of product development eight years ago. He was a key figure at the company, responsible for managing and shaping product development strategy but also involved in pre-sales consultancy, marketing and customer support.

Andy Wortley from A-Plant, an MCS customer, said; "This news is such a shock for me and the team at A-Plant, Sunbelt and Ashtead Group. I have worked with Mark both within MCS as a colleague and since then as a key supporting member of our development team, always willing to help in delivering solutions which made great sense".

Richard van der Knaap said tributes had been pouring in for all those who knew him. "It's been a true privilege to work with Mark, both as a friend and business colleague, over the last 20 years.

"His input, guidance and knowledge have been instrumental in helping MCS grow into the international business that it is today. Mark's family - his wife and two teenage sons - are constantly in our thoughts at this very difficult time."
