The owner of Chinese access rental company Beijing XYZ Co Ltd is looking to sell the business and is keen to find a buyer from outside China.

XYZ, which has a fleet of around 420 units located mainly in Beijing and Shanghai, is one of the best established rental businesses in China. It was founded in 1995 by Mr Li Zhong.

Mr Li told IRN that he was hoping to sell the business, preferably to a foreign company, although he would consider some form of joint venture. Mr Li is also a shareholder of Mantall, the Chinese manufacturer of scissor lifts and booms, and IRN understands that he wants to focus on this company.

The XYZ fleet comprises mainly scissor lifts and some booms, as well as a small number of Omme crawler mounted platforms. XYZ imported Genie machines when it first started renting but more recently has been investing in Mantall platforms.

XYZ is one of the few Chinese owned aerial platform rental companies of a significant size. Other big players in access rental in the country include Hertz Equipment Rental Co (HERC), US-owned Shanghai Universal Equipment, and Kanamoto’s joint venture rental business, Shanghai Jinheyuan Equipment Rental.
