China’s Sany claims ‘world first’ with new hybrid concrete pump truck

Sany said the new hybrid pump truck combines a smart drivetrain with a range-extended hybrid system, with the aim of addressing long-standing limitations around operating range and energy efficiency in electric construction equipment.

According to the company, the machine has been tested to achieve a maximum range of 1,400.5km and continuous pumping capacity exceeding 650 cubic metres.

It also recorded 84 consecutive days of uninterrupted operation during testing, with a cumulative pumping volume of more than 120,000 cubic metres and sustained high-pressure pumping at 20 megapascals (MPa).

Sany claims the hybrid system can deliver significant cost reductions depending on utilisation rates. Under operating conditions of 50–100 cubic metres per day, the company claimed costs can be reduced by between 50% and 75%, while at 100–200 cubic metres per day, savings of 30% to 50% are achievable.

Alongside the hybrid pump truck, the company introduced a new electric mixer truck for 2026, featuring an energy recovery braking system with a claimed recovery rate of up to 30%.

The mixer is equipped with a suite of safety technologies, including lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking and right-turn emergency braking.

Two additional compact models were unveiled: the 206 electric mixer truck and a 33-metre pump truck, both aimed at applications in confined or rural jobsites.

Yuan Yue, chairman of Sany’s concrete and road machinery business unit, said, “Through continued R&D investment, we are bringing a new generation of products to market, including the smart hybrid pump truck, electric mixer truck, and 33-meter pump truck – all designed to address customer concerns around energy costs and operational range.”
