Canadian rental company invests in battery storage units

Quebec-based rental company Location GM has taken delivery of nine battery energy storage units from Canadian company Hybrid Power Solutions Inc. The order is for Hybrid’s Spark units, representing a contract value of C$521,100 (€330,000).

Hybrid has delivered the first two battery packs, which are now being used by a Location GM customer for a project at Montreal airport. The remaining seven units are scheduled for delivery in May this year.

The Spark series offers modular portable power with continuous outputs up to 24kW and energy storage from 20kWh to 60kWh, making it suitable for construction sites, remote projects, and equipment-intensive applications.

“This agreement with Location GM to deliver nine Spark units marks an important expansion of our clean power solutions into Quebec’s commercial construction and equipment rental markets,” said Francois Byrne, CEO and director of Hybrid Power Solutions.

“With two units already powering critical work at the Montreal airport project, we are demonstrating the real-world performance and value of the Spark in large-scale construction settings.

“Partnering with a respected rental leader like Location GM will make our fuel-free technology more accessible to contractors’ province-wide, accelerating adoption of sustainable power alternatives on job sites.”

Hybrid said the agreement with Location GM was part of its wider initiative to broaden its product offering by partnering with domestic and international rental companies.

Location GM has rental branches throughout Quebec, in Laval, Saint-Jerome, Sainte-Agathe, Gatineau and Saint-Philippe.

Hybrid Power Solutions is a Canadian clean energy company listed on the Canadian Securities Exchange under the symbol ‘HPSS’.
