Boels chooses Briggs & Stratton

23 January 2019

Netherlands-based rental company Boels Rental is collaborating further with US-based engine manufacturer Briggs & Stratton to deliver reliable and sustainable solutions to the rental market.

Next-generation, single-cylinder Vanguard engines from Briggs & Stratton are to be used in Boels’ fleet to improve performance and user experience, while reducing environmental impact and the total cost of ownership. Boels will be looking to have the new engines fitted in new equipment purchased in future.

This collaboration was said to follow Boels’ good experience with Vanguard V-Twin engines in the past, and successful production trials with the new Vanguard 200 single-cylinder engine.

Guy Cremer, Director of Fleet Operations at Boels, said, “The new generation of Vanguard single-cylinder engines offers many game-changing improvements. The engines allow us to cut our equipment service intervals almost by half and drop our oil waste and recycling, thus reducing the environmental impact of our fleet.”

He added that, although equipment suppliers usually select the engines for their equipment, Boels would make clear its preference for Vanguard engines going forwards.

Paul Bramhall, Senior Manager Marketing of Briggs & Stratton, said, “Vanguard engines are built to combine unmatched product performance with a lower total cost of ownership (TCO). Our new generation of single-cylinder engines will be designed to set new performance standards in the industry.”

In addition to the engines themselves, Briggs & Stratton offers support programmes to help rental companies improve the efficiency of their after-sales services. One example, which is particularly relevant to Boels since it operates in 19 countries, is the in-house training that Briggs & Stratton provides to rental staff in their native language. It was said to enable the staff to diagnose and resolve technical problems more effectively, thereby getting equipment up and running quickly.
