Speedy Hire has announced additions to its Executive Board with the appointment of a Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) Director and ESG Director.

Taking up the newly created role of ESG Director is Amelia Woodley, who brings almost 20 years of experience to the company. Woodley has been with Speedy for the last two years and has held senior roles within South Western Railway, Network Rail and BAE systems.

In her new role, Woodley will help the company drive down carbon emissions and enhance social value across the business and its wider supply chain.

Amelia Woodley, ESG Director said, “I am delighted to become the board’s first ESG Director. Since joining Speedy the support and enthusiasm for ESG has been perceptible throughout the whole organisation: within leadership, at the board level, in the way everyone within the company embraces the ESG agenda. This development echoes Speedy’s drive to do better and be better and will help us to continue to reach our goals.”

Andy Johnson, who assumes the role of HSSEQ Director, also brings more than 20 years experience to the Board and will help to strengthen Speedy’s commitment to innovation in safety and health, according to the company.

Andy Johnson, HSSEQ Director at Speedy, said: “I am excited to be part of this ambitious Executive Board helping Speedy deliver safe and sustainable operations and look forward to working directly with my colleagues to achieve our goals.”

Dan Evans, Speedy’s Chief Executive and board member of the Supply Chain Sustainability School, said the company is “delighted to welcome Amelia and Andy to the executive board” and confirmed that Speedy will “continue to drive positive change for our customers, our business and our suppliers.”

According to Speedy, it is the first UK rental company to hire an ESG Director. The company has previously been the first to commit to science-based net-zero targets and to launch a carbon calculator. Earlier this month it also announced that it will publish a net-zero roadmap.
