Bernard Pointet, the ex-Lev and Haulotte rental executive, has been appointed president of DLR, the French association for construction equipment rental companies and distributors. He succeeds Michael Gable, who has been president since 2004.

Mr Pointet, who has been a specialist in the rental market since the early 1970s, said his goals for the DLR will be to defend the interests of its members, to encourage links between the various sectors in the DLR, and to develop the provision of high quality economic data for members.

Mr Pointet brings decades of rental experience to his new post. In the early 1970s he led LocaNacelle and then LEV, before its merger with Loxam in 2009. He is now a company director and rental consultant.

The appointment was confirmed at the DRL's annual convention on 25 March, at which the association's rental group also appointed a new chairman, Bertrand Carret or RentForce, who was previously chairman of the DLR's South-West committee.

Mr Carret succeeds Herve Cohade (Eurofor/Foraloc), who has been made chairman of a new Public Affairs committee. The committee will be responsible for promoting the DLR's activities in the wider public sphere, creating links with other trade associations, and lobbying government.
