Atlas Copco Rent Service is providing equipment to assist rescue efforts in the Abruzzo region of Italy, struck by a devastating earthquake on 6 April 2009. The help includes supply of lighting towers, which allows work led by the ‘Protezione Civile', the organization leading the rescue operations, to continue through the night.

Rent Service said it responded immediately to the call by the Protezione Civile for help. Tom Deckers, business line manager Atlas Copco Specialty Rental, said, "The devastating earthquake left more than 300 dead and over 50000 people homeless. As an expression of compassion and support, we try as a company to help as much as possible. Right now, we're supporting the relief organizations as well as possible by sharing our equipment for their use."

Atlas Copco said it has customers and suppliers in the region, but none of its factories or customer centres was damaged by the earthquake.
