Jeremy Fish, CEO of Ardent, will undertake the walk with his 21-year old daughter Katie; along with Ardent employees, and trustees and colleagues at the charity.

The three peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside are typically walked as a circular route taking in all three mountains in one day. The route is 38.6km long and involves 1600 metres of vertical ascent.

In addition to raising funds, the walk is intended to raise awareness about mental health, drug and alcohol abuse, Fish told IRN.

“In the hire industry mental health issues are widespread, given the pressures we place on colleagues to find and prepare equipment, often at short notice.

“Most of us have friends or family or people that we know whose lives have been impacted by mental health. And indeed, my two daughters had anxiety problems in their teens - and still do to some extent.

“It was Katie’s idea to do this walk to try and give something back and help those less fortunate than her.”

“The charity we’re supporting, We Are With You - also known as With You - provides the services that people need to get their lives back on track. These services are free and confidential without judgement. The charity treats more than 100,000 people a year.”

Fish said he and Katie had originally set a target of £10,000; at the time of writing over £14,000 has been raised.
