APR Energy renews alliance with GE

03 January 2017

Temporary power provider APR Energy has renewed its strategic alliance with US-based GE to provide mobile turbine technology to the power rental market.

Under the agreement, APR Energy will be the rental provider of GE mobile gas turbines under 50MW. The company will also acquire GE’s new Generation 8, GE TM2500+ mobile turbines, in a bid to upgrade its fleet.

APR Energy claimed the acquisition of the new mobile turbines would “strengthen its position” as market leaders in the mobile gas turbine power industry. The company’s fleet now has a total capacity of more than 2GW – enough to power around two million homes.

John Campion, chairman of APR Energy, said, “We are very excited about the mutual benefits our renewed alliance brings, and appreciate the increased collaboration between our two companies.

“Our partnership will provide APR Energy access to new leads and opportunities throughout the GE global network, helping to support our business growth and thereby increasing demand for GE equipment.”

He added that the alliance also provided the company with the latest generation of TM2500+ units, giving APR Energy the “newest fleet” in the industry.

Meanwhile, Jeffrey Immelt, chairman and CEO at GE, said the company had been impressed with APR Energy’s “high level” of customer service, as well as its ability to deliver turnkey power generation projects in remote locations all around the world.
