Allight goes global

23 April 2008

Allight Pty Ltd, the Australian lighting tower manufacturer that is owned by National Hire in Australia (and co-owner with Carlyle of rental company Coates), has developed a number of lighting products for the global market.

The company has previously focused on selling heavy duty lighting towers to the Australian mining sector, but has now developed two new products suitable for worldwide sale.

Key to the new products, which include the Nightshifter 6000 and 4000 models, is a more compact size that will allow eight of the 6000 W units to be carried in a single shipping container, and 16 of the smaller 4000 W models. A 9000 W model will also be available, and this and the 6000 W models are ‘hybrid' models incorporating generator sets

The Nightshifter 6000 has an articulated boom design that gives the user enormous flexibility in directing the light, including into excavations. It has an automatic outreach limiting system and hydraulically tilting lamps. The 6000 has a starting price of around US$24000.

"They are being designed for the world market", said Peter Breen, Allight's general manager for international sales, "Our older towers were big and solid, great for mining, but not good for transport." Allight has a major share of the lighting tower market in Australia, said Mr Breen; "To keep growth going, we need to go offshore."

The towers received their North American launch at the ConExpo show in Las Vegas earlier this month. The towers will be launched in Europe in the last quarter of 2008.
