Alide Hire Services expands fleet

UK-based rental company Alide Hire Services said it was two years into eight year fleet renewal plan, with new Takeuchi mini excavators and Thwaites site dumpers now dominating its line-up.

The company said the plan was to expand the fleet from 50 to 120 units, with around 85 machines currently available.

This included eight 3 tonne class mini excavators, 26 1.5 tonne class mini excavators, eight 1 tonne class mini excavators, 20 1 tonne Hi Tip dumpers as well as additional track carriers and welfare units.

“Historically the company has run other brands of mini excavator, but in the past 2 years have gradually moved over to the Takeuchi brand, thanks in part to an excellent working relationship with their local dealer, CBL Plant Sales, and consistently good feedback from customers,” the company said.

The most recent order consisted of six x 1.5 tonne Takeuchi TB216’s, two TB228 models and nine Thwaite’s 1 tonne Hi Tip dumpers.

Alide Hire Services said it was holding back on replacing its range of 1 tonne class mini excavators in anticipation of the potential launch of Takeuchi’s new TB208 model at the Intermat construction equipment exhibition in Paris this April.

Alide Hire Services operations director Brett Thompson said, “We find them to be very sound machines and extremely smooth to operate.

"The Japanese are renowned for building solid and reliable machines that can withstand the rigours of the self-drive market. Our customers do like them and often specify Takeuchi when placing an order, which speaks volumes for the product.”

The company added that all new machines joining the fleet were being fitted with security systems including Enigma key fob immobilisers and the Enigma key pad immobiliser system. In addition the company said it was looking into fitting tracker devices into its entire fleet.
