Quattro acquires AB 2000
17 May 2018
The UK’s Quattro Group has acquired fellow UK plant and crane hire company AB 2000 in a multi-million pound deal, the company has announced.
AB 2000, based in Scotland, has a turnover of around £30 million (€34.33 million), and is said to be Scotland’s largest privately-owned rental company.
Quattro Group specialises in the renting of equipment for the rail, road and construction industries across the UK, and has a fleet size of around 450 units. AB 2000 operates different divisions, including Ellon Plant Hire, Phoenix Weights and Phoenix Marine, and also has a fleet size of around 450 items.
John Murphy, managing director for Quattro Plant, said, “The AB 2000 team, led by Adam Bruce, has worked tirelessly to grow a great business centred on providing vital services to the Scottish market. This customer-service focus and high level of delivery sits perfectly in line with the Quattro Group ethos, and we felt that this deal would provide a natural partnership.
“The deal sees the merging of AB 2000’s Glasgow head office and two further regional deports with Quattro Group’s existing nationwide depot network, with all staff retaining their roles within the organisation and no significant changes to the key management. AB 2000 founder Adam Bruce will remain with the organisation as an advisor, and Jim Houston, currently AB 2000’s CEO, will hold the position of managing director.”
