Kranpunkten adds 250 electric scissors

Sweden-based rental company Kranpunkten is continuing its green fleet transition with the addition of 250 electric scissor lifts, including machines from JLG, Genie and Leonardo. The investment will help boost its fleet to more than 4,000 units by the Autumn.

The company says the move is a response to growing demand for climate conscious equipment, particularly for the interior construction elements of large building projects.

Kranpunkten says low noise, low emission scissor lifts are required for interior construction work.

Rikard Jönsson, Purchasing Manager at Kranpunkten, said the machines are being delivered to large construction projects where it offers its a ‘Function Pool’ service to manage workplace demand on behalf of its customers.

“The Function Pool concept means that Kranpunkten takes a greater holistic approach to the workplace and handles several functions for the customer.

“Kranpunkten ensures that the right machines are in place at the right time while the customer is relieved from coordination of logistics, service and support functions.

“In some phases of more extensive projects, the need for a large number of units of the same type may become particularly apparent,” Jönsson said.

“In the projects, we now see a growing need for smaller units for interior jobs and therefore we’re expanding our fleet of electric scissor lifts further.”

“These machines are quiet and without emissions, which is what is in demand when the projects have reached the indoor phase.”

The company’s latest investment in 250 electric scissor lifts includes machines from Genie.

The new machines add to Kranpunkten’s investment plan for 2021 which initially comprised over 200 units; boom and scissor lifts, truck-mounted aerial working platforms as well as telescopic handlers - most of them with electric or hybrid operation.

Kranpunkten is significantly adding fully electric machines to its rental fleet.

At present 83% of all units in the fleet have electric power, either as the sole power source or as a hybrid in combination with fossil-free fuel.

The company has around 3,700 machines in its fleet, having grown this by 1,000 units over the past three years.

Deliveries of this year’s investments will take place continuously until the autumn, by which time the Kranpunkten fleet will have expanded to more than 4,000 units.
