Husqvarna sells BlueBird brand

22 December 2014

Outdoor power equipment manufacturer TEC International has acquired the BlueBird brand, including its sales and manufacturing operations, from power tool producer Husqvarna.

Bluebird manufactures turf care tools including aerators, power rakes, seeders, sod cutters and stump grinders.

Husqvarna vice president and general manager for North America Jeff Dewosky said, “The decision to sell Bluebird International is part of the Husqvarna Group's strategic plan, a strategy that seeks to reduce operational complexity, improve efficiency and give additional focus to our end customers (consumers and professionals) and our core brands.”

Nick Salvatore, executive vice president and COO of TEC International, added, “The acquisition of BlueBird International complements our existing product lineup with an established line of turf equipment. We look forward to further developing this well established brand and giving our customers a wider range of product offerings.”

Under the terms of the agreement the companies said TEC International would continue to produce Husqvarna-branded specialty turf equipment.

They added that BlueBird products would continue to be sold through distributors, dealers and rental organisations.
