Gorman-Rupp wants European dealers to rent pumps

Gorman-Rupp has established a “significant” finance fund to support dealers in Europe who want to establish rental operations.
The US-based company already has dealers renting in Europe – its dealer in the Netherlands has been renting pumps for decades and its Belgian and Polish dealers have also recently begun renting – but wants to expand the offering.
John Peters, Gorman-Rupp’s sales development manager for Europe, told IRN at Bauma that the company wanted to encourage its dealers to establish rental businesses and that the fund – offering finance with better conditions than commercial banks – was part of the strategy. Gorman-Rupp will not establish its own rental operations, preferring to operate through country dealers.
“Gradually we are spreading out through Europe”, said Mr Peters, “It is up to them [dealers] if they want to rent. If they don’t, then we would look for other rental partners. Dealers will get first refusal on rental.” He said markets in Scandinavia and Italy could be next, possibly by next year.
Gorman-Rupp makes a wide range of surface, diesel driven pumps as well as submersible pumps. In Europe, the pumps use wet ends from the US alongside frames, motors and drive trains added in the Netherlands.
