Temporary accommodation renter Elliott - the UK subsidiary of Algeco Scotsman - has won the contract to provide temporary accommodation and portable toilets for the 2012 London Olympics.

Elliott said it will supply more than 2000 units from its Moduflex, Progress and Event ranges at all 36 of the competition venues as well as areas such as the athletes village, warm up areas, transport, training and ceremonies locations.

The contract is part of a wider ‘overlay project', which comprises temporary structures and facilities to augment existing and new Olympic buildings. Other overlay works include 250000 temporary seating, 165000 m2 of tents and marquees, 140 km of fencing and 250 km of crowd control barriers.

Elliott's senior project manager Nick Moon said; "With an estimated 11 million visitors and a larger global audience, this is a fantastic opportunity for Elliott to show the world exactly what we can do at an event of this nature"

Work on the contract has already begun, with the manufacture and delivery of technical equipment rooms for the first test events that are being staged now.

James Bulley, director of venues and infrastructure at LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games), said: 'The London 2012 Games will deliver what no other Games has before in terms of the complexity and scale of the event overlay and temporary structures needed."
