Echo Barrier, which specialises in noise reduction solutions for the construction and rail industries, has introduced the Generator Set Enclosure to prevent excessive noise from generators.

The ‘enclosure’ comprises acoustic barriers with sloped extension pieces which are fitted with patented waterproof and sound absorbing material. It can be designed with or without a door and is available in a range of sizes.

In tests the enclosure has been proven to reduce noise levels by 90% (10 decibels) for residents on the sixth floor of an overlooking building, and by 84% (8 decibels) for those living on the ground floor.

Peter Wilson, technical director at Echo Barrier said: “Noisy generators close to residential and commercial areas can be the bane of people’s lives, yet an important part of a works project.

“It is important that those managing noisy sites take into consideration the impact they are having on local people and this new product is a quick and easy way of doing just that.”
