Brazil’s rental industry ‘on the front line’

03 April 2020

ALEC, the Brazilian equipment rental association, has written to federal, state and municipal governments highlighting the industy’s “essential” support for key infrastructure and arguing that it will help maintain Brazil’s stability through the COVID-19 pandemic.

It said equipment such as generators, air compressors, cleaning machines, temporary space, construction equipment for field hospitals, and many others items were important to maintain important public institutions in government and healthcare.

In the letter, it states; “ALEC and our industry understand that we must join efforts on behalf of Brazilians to minimise the impact on the health and well-being of the families, communities, city halls, states and government that rent our equipment.

“In view of the above, ALEC is writing to you in order to raise awareness so that machine and equipment rental stores throughout Brazil can be on the front line in combating the pandemic caused by COVID 19.

“Our activity is fundamental, especially at this delicate moment generated by the pandemic.”

The letter was signed by ALEC’s President, Alexandre Forjaz, and its vice president, Bruno Eloel Arena, and listed all 175 of its members.
