15 becomes 17

18 March 2008

The new ViO17 is an updated version of the zero tailswing ViO15-2A launched at the Intermat show in 2006. The biggest changes are an increased digging depth – up to 2200 mm from 2100 mm – and a wider variable width for the undercarriage, now 950 to 1280 mm compared to the 950 to 1200 mm of its predecessor.

Digging force has also been upped by 15% to 1550 kgf, and a gear pump has been added to the variable piston pumps, improving the overall performance of the machine, including simultaneous movements of different functions. Durability will be improved, meanwhile, by the addition of cast iron elements to the rotating frame and the undercarriage.

There are other less obvious changes. Ammann-Yanmar says the production process for the ViO17 now mirrors the modular philosophy used on the SV range. This, says the company, “makes it easier to dismount and replace the main parts of the machine, [which] considerably reduces the long-term operational costs, and service time is also significantly reduced.”
