Discover Battery appoints Romania distributor for regional growth

Discover Battery has appointed Battery Shop Akita, owned by parent company Redresoare, as its new distribution partner in Romania, strengthening its network across key European markets.

Located in Giurgiu, in a strategic location in southern Romania near the Bulgarian border, Battery Shop Akita is at the heart of a rapidly evolving industrial corridor, where many OEMs and Discover Battery customers are developing new European manufacturing facilities.

As the region emerges as a key growth engine for the industry, proximity, responsiveness and technical support are becoming increasingly critical, said Discovery. “In this context, Battery Shop Akita is ideally positioned not only to support the Romanian market, but also to contribute to Discover Battery’s expansion across South-Eastern Europe.”

Demonstrating its long-term commitment, parent company Redresoare is investing in a new dedicated Battery Shop Akita facility, scheduled for completion at the end of 2026. This new infrastructure will significantly strengthen warehousing capacity, with a 300 square metre storage building and 100 square metres of office space, customer service operations, technical support capabilities and future expansion opportunities, and position Akita as a major strategic hub for battery distribution and aftermarket support across the region.

Battery Shop Akita currently operates from its headquarters and main warehouse in the Giurgiu area, supported by a centralised technical and service structure developed through Redresoare. The setup combines manufacturing, repair, diagnostics and distribution capabilities in one location.

Complemented by its digital platforms and direct sales operations, Battery Shop Akita represents a model that is becoming essential in today’s energy landscape - one where performance is no longer defined by the product alone, but by the ability to understand, advise and optimize, said the company.

“At Discover, we are building a network of experts, not just distributors,” explained Alexander Marotz, VP sales and business development for Discover Battery. “We look for partners who understand how machines operate in the field, who can interpret technical data and translate it into clear, reliable recommendations. This is exactly what we found with Dragos and his team.”

Broad experience 

Redresoare has been manufacturing and repairing battery chargers since 2008 and alongside established brands such as Rolls, Zenith, VMF and Ecobat, the company continues to expand its offering. Discover Battery says it is enhancing the portfolio with its advanced Traction Dry Cell technology designed for demanding applications.

“For us, distributing batteries is only one part of the job,” says Dragos Ionescu, Owner of Redresoare and Battery Shop Akita. “Understanding how a battery behaves within a machine, how it is charged and how it is used daily, that is where performance is really defined. Our role is to help customers make the right decisions, not only at the point of purchase, but throughout the entire lifecycle of their equipment.”

This shift reflects a broader transformation across industries such as aerial work platforms, material handling and industrial cleaning, where batteries have become central to machine performance, said the company. 

“In the past, the discussion was often focused on price. Today, it is about total cost of ownership,” continues Dragos. “When you consider maintenance, downtime, energy efficiency and reliability over time, the right battery, combined with the right guidance, can significantly improve the economics of a fleet.”

Discover Battery’s solutions such as Lithium, Gel and Traction Dry Cell AGM and Hydro Polymer, are addressing the growing demand for maintenance-free, safe and reliable energy systems adapted to modern equipment. “Our role is not just to bring technology to the market,” adds Alexander. “It is to ensure that this technology performs in real conditions. That means staying close to customers, understanding their constraints and working with partners who can support them locally with the right level of expertise.”
