Caterpillar’s 2023 highlights: remote control tech and electric solutions

Caterpillar has released its 2023 company report which highlights its main achievements in the sections it operates in, including construction and quarrying and mining.

The world’s largest OEM says that in 2023 sales for its construction industries segment was US$27.4 billion, an increase of 9% compared to 2022.

The OEM said that one of its highlights was expanding Cat Command remote control technology to 60 product models, enabling machines to be controlled without anyone in the cab, enhancing safety and efficiency.

It also highlighted ConExpo 2023, where the company showcased services, sustainability and technology solutions to nearly 50,000 dealers, customers and guests at its Operator Stadium.

Caterpillar’s resource industries segment, which includes quarrying and mining equipment, saw sales of US$13.6 billion, a 10% increase compared to 2022.

The segment highlighted ten years of autonomous operations with over 630 large mining trucks running worldwide, an expanded customer electrification engagement with CRH to advance the deployment of 70 to 100-ton-class battery electric off-highway trucks and charging solutions and the demonstration of its first battery electric prototype underground mining truck with semi-autonomous capability.
