Ramirent opts for Spartan paperless solution

18 June 2019

Ramirent is to install a paperless operating system at its Norwegian locations in a partnership with Spartan Solutions, the UK company that creates mobile technology for rental applications.

Following successful trials in Norway, Ramirent will now roll out Spartan’s PHALANX mobile Apps across its Norwegian operation, with implementation to be compete by the end of the year. The Apps will integrate with Ramirent’s existing Wynne Systems rental software, and will cover processes such as delivery, transport, returns, inspection and service.

Some trials of the system are also underway at Ramirent’s Swedish operation, with the company’s Norwegian team helping their Swedish counterparts.

Dino Leistenschneider, Ramirent’s Head of Group Sourcing and Fleet Management, said; “Our group strategy is to use innovative digital solutions like PHALANX to improve customer service and increase internal productivity.

”The trial has enabled us to reduce the average time for equipment turnaround time by nearly 50% and reduce the time to conduct equipment inspections by almost 30%.”

He added; “We chose Spartan because they have successfully digitised the rental operations of similar large companies. They worked well with our end-users and used their experience to understand how best to make the day-to-day work of our operations easier and much more efficient.”

Jim Green, CEO of Spartan Solutions, said, “We are delighted to work with Ramirent. Their leadership team had a clear vision of their business objectives and the end-users have embraced the digital transformation journey. We are looking forward to working further with the team to deliver the full business benefits of digital operations to the Ramirent Group.”

Spartan, which has provided paperless solutions for Aggreko, also works in the oil and gas sector and is currently developing the use of machine learning technology for predictive maintenance.

Working in partnership with the Oil & Gas Technology Centre (OGTC), the University of Strathclyde and Repsol Sinopec, Spartan is using its PHALANX platform and advanced algorithms, combined with equipment maintenance records and sensor data, to predict equipment failure and manage early interventions. The goal is to reduce unexpected equipment failure and downtime, and extend the lifespan of equipment.
