Crawler upgrade: Improved surface drilling rig

Atlas Copco has upgraded its ROC D3 surface drilling rig with a new engine, greater flushing capacity and a more powerful rock drill. The machine is suitable for holes up to 89 mm diameter.
The new engine is a Cummins QSB 4.5, offering 116 kW, compared to the 107 kW of the Deutz in the previous version. Atlas Copco has also added a fuel saving device that automatically drops the revs to idle when there is no load on the engine. The system also automatically adjusts engine speed according to the load from prevailing rock conditions.
The new rock drills, the 16 kW COP 1640 and 12 kW COP 1240, feature an updated spline design, which extend the life of the driver itself as well as of the shank adapter.
The ROC D3 is available in three configurations, the ROC D3-01 with folding boom and Rod Handling System (RHS), ROC D3-03 withextended folding boom and Rod Adding System (RAS) and the ROC D3-03 withextended folding boom and Rod Rack.
